Moto X in India: 5 unique features

Motorola has finally brought the Moto X smartphone to India, at a price of Rs 23,999. One of the most unique handsets in the market, Moto X will endear customers with a better user experience, rather than merely offer beefed up specifications.

Wondering how Moto X is different from others? Here are six unique features of the Moto X...

Wooden back panels

Moto X is the only smartphone in India to come with wood-finish back panels, namely walnut and teak. Though these two back panels cost an extra Rs 2,000, they remain exclusive to the Motorola smartphone.

The handset also comes in plastic back panels in five colours: white, black, turquoise, blue and red.

Touchless Control

Google Now, the digital voice assistant developed by the internet search titan, is always turned on in Moto X. When you say “Okay Google Now,” the phone’s Touchless Control mechanism gets activated. This feature makes it possible to perform functions like looking up something on the internet, checking the weather app etc without touching the phone even once.

10MP ClearPixel camera

Moto X smartphone comes with a 10MP camera with ClearPixel technology. This new technology allows 75% more light to enter, thus producing better low light pictures.

The phone has a Quick Capture feature, which gets activated when you jerk your wrist twice while holding the phone. This opens the camera app and then you can take an image by touching anywhere on the screen, instead of being restricted to the Capture button.

Motorola X8 chipset

Motorola’s latest phone has an X8 chipset under the hood, which consists of a dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, Adreno 320 GPU, a natural language processor and a contextual computing processor.

While the first two are standard features in all smartphones, the remaining two are exclusive to Motorola and help create a better user experience by processing information better.

Active Display

Similar to Nokia’s Glance Screen is Motorola’s Active Display that debuts with Moto X. This feature shows time, unread messages and emails, missed calls and other notifications even when the screen is turned off.

Migrate app

Moto X comes with the Migrate app, which allows users to transfer data like contacts, photos, videos and even call log and SMSs from any Android 4.2-powered phone.
